Ore growth helps ARG offset grain drop

The Australian Railroad Group (ARG) increased traffic 0.1% for October 2033 compared with same period last year, according to figures from one of its parent companies, Genesee &#38 Wyoming (GWI).

A strong increase in the number of iron ore carloads (up 3,987) and other ore and mineral traffic (up 1,799 carloads) was offset by a 5,883 carload decrease in grain traffic.

This led to an overall increase of 84 carloads, GWI said.

ARG also continued to provide construction services for the Adelaide-Darwin rail link project, but these were not included in the figures.
