<p>Rail unions are looking for ways of keeping the New South Wales rail network under State Government control.</p> <p>The unions are responding to the proposal for the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to lease and manage NSW’s interstate track, including the Hunter Valley.</p> <p>The unions met last week and decided to prepare a report that "proposes a wholesale commercial contract that does not require ownership or control of railway infrastructure or network control, as an alternate to the ARTC proposal".</p> <p>The unions will also engage an economist to analyse the economic assumptions contained in the ARTC plan.</p> <br />
