As Australia waits on the Federal Government to officially release the Infrastructure Australia (IA) shortlist, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Anthony Albanese said that on April 26th, the State and Federal Governments had agreed on a $31.7bn road and rail infrastructure deal.

The $26.4bn in Federal cash and $5.3bn in State monies was part of the Nation Building Program and agreement followed a meeting in February between the Prime Minister and all the premiers and chief ministers.

Among the rail sector initiatives were spending on 250 level-crossings and 26 major projects.
Other road measures included black spot remediation and truck rest stops, while $450m would be spent on maintenance.
