NSW has an ongoing rail crisis, says Debnam

<p>New South Wales opposition transport spokesman Peter Debnam is using a new report into train derailments and collisions in NSW to keep the spotlight on rail safety in the lead up to next month’s state election.</p> <p>The Australian Transport Safety Bureau reported 47 derailments and five collisions in NSW in the first six months of 2002.</p> <p>"This is further evidence of the ongoing rail crisis in NSW," Mr Debnam said.</p> <p>Derailments were 38% higher than the same period the previous year, while the number of collisions more than doubled.</p> <br />
