<p>Northline Freight has opened its new 1,200 sq m warehouse at its Winellie Depot in Darwin.</p> <p>The development is the first phase of a two-part expansion that will eventually give the firm about 8,000 sq m of warehouse and undercover depot area when a 3,600 sq m warehouse is completed in April 2006, <em>Supply Chain Review</em> reports. </p> <p>Northline is upgrading its truck fleet and facilities to consolidate its road haulage business.</p> <p>In February this year, the company elected to return 60,000 tonnes of freight a year to road from FreightLink’s Adelaide-Darwin rail service.</p> <p>It cited costs and customer flexibility as the reasons for returning that freight to road haulage.</p> <br />
