<p>The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) wants visibility devices already used on heavy vehicles to be fitted to trains in a bid to end a series of recent level crossing collisions.</p> <p>ATA chief executive Stuart St Clair has called for trains to be fitted with rotating orange lights to make trains more visible at night and during the daylight hours.</p> <p>There have been several level crossing collisions between heavy vehicles and trains in the last 18 months, including multiple fatalities in a number of incidents in Victoria.</p> <p>The latest, 110 km south-east of Melbourne, occurred yesterday morning (Wednesday, September 12) when a car was clipped by a regional passenger train.</p> <p>The train driver and about 70 passengers were uninjured in the incident, which occurred at Lardner Track crossing, near Warragul.</p> <p>The crossing reportedly had flashing lights fitted but no boom gates installed.</p> <p>No other trains services were affected.</p> <br />
