<p>Nick Dimopoulos has been appointed as the National Transport Commission’s new chief executive and will take up his position on October 2.</p> <p>Mr Dimopoulos previously held senior executive positions in Victorian Treasury, AWB Ltd and BHP Billiton. </p> <p>He has extensive experience in the public and private sector covering the areas of business strategy, economic research, public policy, risk management and stakeholder management.</p> <p>Chairman Michael Deegan said Mr Dimopoulos joined the NTC at an exciting time for national transport reform following the Council of Australian Governments’ agreement earlier this year. </p> <p>“We look forward to his leadership and contribution to achieving real productivity and safety gains,” he said.</p> <p>Until recently, Mr Dimopoulos has been the acting chief executive for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), which is a leading independent think tank and research organisation. </p> <p>At CEDA, he has been instrumental in introducing new strategic and operational initiatives to drive high quality research and promote debate on public policy issues, including water management and education.</p> <br />
