Ability Works is the latest charity or not-for-profit to have a tram wrapped in their livery as part of Yarra Trams’ Community Partnerships Program, which provides in-kind advertising every year to community organisations.
Ability Works was selected by a panel of judges for their application in response to the 2022 program theme of ‘Building a resilient and sustainable Melbourne’.
Australians from socially disadvantaged backgrounds or with a disability face a number of barriers to gaining employment. From inadequate inclusion plans to inaccessible workplaces, there are huge strides to be taken by organisations to get this right.
To improve the lives of those most in need, calls are growing for people with disabilities and from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to be employed to offer insights and experience for organisations’ inclusion plans going forward.
These calls have been amplified with a striking new tram wrap hitting Melbourne’s tram network. Yarra Trams, as part of its Community Partnerships Program, has joined with Ability Works to unveil a new tram wrap showing four faces of Victorians who have been impacted by issues of exclusion in mainstream employment but have found meaningful employment with Ability Works.
Ability Works is a commercially competitive not for profit social enterprise that provides employment to those experiencing significant barriers to employment elsewhere.
Yarra Trams chief executive Julien Dehornoy said working with the six Community Partnership Program participants was a highlight of his role.
