A new V-Line timetable will be launched on August 27 with an additional 151 train services for regional passengers, with an emphasis on improving weekend services, Victorian public transport minister Jacinta Allan has announced.

The new timetable adds 69 services for Geelong, including 30 new services every weekend, meaning trains at least every 40 minutes between 7am and 7pm each day on the state’s busiest regional corridor.

The two next-busiest corridors – to Bendigo and Ballarat – will each get 18 extra weekly services.

The Ararat line will get 19 additional weekly services, including an extra weekday morning train that will form a service to Melbourne at Ballarat, and a weekday afternoon service from Southern Cross to Wendouree that will be extended to Ararat.

“These extra services will mean we have added more than 230 extra services this year alone,” Allan said, “helping  regional passengers get to where they need to go sooner.

“We’re delivering the services and infrastructure regional Victoria needs as it grows. We are providing more choice for regional people who want to head to the footy, see a show or visit loved ones – whether that be in Melbourne or across the state.”
