New platform tram stops on Park Street

Two new platform tram stops have been opened on Park Street in South Melbourne, servicing Route 58.

The stops provide a safer area for passengers, with fencing, improved access to low-floor trams, and new shelters and passenger information displays.

Research conducted by Monash University has shown that passenger safety is improved by up to 86 per cent where platform stops are installed.

Raised safety curbs and new tram tracks have also been installed to improve safety.

The former tram stop, located at the corner of Park Street and Kings Way, is now closed. The tram stop at the Domain interchange will close in April as part of the construction of the new Anzac Station.
