<p>The sixth of 12 stand-alone Victorian road/rail grade separation projects was opened yesterday (Thursday October 26), five months ahead of schedule.</p> <p>The $15m Cliff Street overpass in Portland will improve access to the port from the Henty Highway.</p> <p>The overpass takes traffic over the Henty Highway and the Portland-Hamilton rail line, connecting Wellington Road and Cliff Street. </p> <p>It would separate local and port traffic, enhancing road safety and improving rail freight access, said Victorian sports minister Justin Madden, who opened the project.</p> <p>“The Cliff Street Overpass project was identified in the Bracks Government’s Port of Portland access strategy, and it provides an opportunity to use the land surrounding the port more strategically,” he said</p> <p>“The port is a vital gateway for trade and commerce for southeastern Australia, particularly for the timber, grain and livestock industries.”</p> <br />
