New Gladstone ship loader to increase coal export capacity

<p>Gladstone’s RG Tanna Coal Terminal (RGCT) has welcomed a new $200m ship loader, billed to increase the present coal export capacity by 10m tonnes. </p> <p>Queensland premier Peter Beattie, who was in Gladstone to commission the loader yesterday (Monday, April 23), said the milestone followed a 20% increase in capacity at Port of Gladstone in the last 12 months. </p> <p>&#8220RGCT capacity will increase even further when additional infrastructure is completed in the next 12 months, taking its export capacity to more than 65m tonnes annually,&#8221 Mr Beattie said. </p> <p>Mr Beattie said the Government would continue to partner with industry to deliver new and expanded coal mines and critical road, rail and water infrastructure. </p> <p>The Government had facilitated a consortium agreement to progress the $1bn rail link from thermal coal reserves of the Surat Basin, estimated at 4bn tonnes, to Gladstone.</p> <br />
