New chief for NTC

<span class="" id="parent-fieldname-description"> The National Transport Commission will shortly have a new CEO with Paul Retter, currently executive director of the Office of Transport Security, taking up the role. </span> <p>At his current role, Retter is responsible for OTS’s work within the framework of the National Counter-Terrorism Plan pertianing to transport.</p><p>Retter’s appointment at the NTC begins on July 8 and he replaces former CEO, Nick Dimopoulos, who sadly passed away on February 8 this year.</p><p>According to NTC chairman Greg Martin, Retter brings extensive knowledge of transport and logistics and proven capability to the role.</p><p>“Paul’s highly-developed strategic planning, policy and regulatory skills and his capacity to build strong and enduring relationships with industry and government will ensure the NTC continues to deliver high quality reforms in collaboration with our partners,” Martin said.</p><p>Retter is joining the NTC at an exciting time, Martin added.</p><p>“[We will] continue to support the delivery of significant Council of Australian Governments (COAG) reform and look for ways to continue to improve safety, productivity and environmental performance across the transport sector,” he said.</p><p>The NTC is responsible for the development of national regulatory and operational reform and implementation strategies for rail, road and intermodal transport.</p><p>As part of its 2013-14 to 2015-16 work program, the NTC will work alongside the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONSR) to help implement the National Rail Safety Law and regulations,.
