More track, stops built on Sydney Light Rail route

Construction is progressing across the CBD and South East light rail line, with stop installations beginning and utilities works beginning to be wrapped up in many zones.

Civil construction continues to advance at zones in the CBD, with Circular Quay light rail stop with excavation now complete. Concrete pouring for the track at the platforms will now be carried out, prior to the building of the platforms themselves.

Excavation works for the Wynyard stop are nearing completion, with reinforcement steel and conduits now being installed.

Track installation is complete across the Bridge and Grosvenor Street intersection, and smartpole footings and installation, drainage, low voltage infrastructure, non-potable water, paving, kerb and asphalting works are under way cross this zone.

The Central Chalmers Street stop in Surry Hills is currently taking shape, with the final pour for the slab scheduled for early August ahead of steel framework construction.

Sewer and water main works in zone 16 are currently being finalised following the completion of track installation works there.

With the Ausgrid low voltage outage successfully completed at zone 18 in Surry Hills, 86 six properties now have new underground property connections to the low voltage network that has been commissioned. The last water main in this area soon be relocated to the southern side of Devonshire Street.

At the Royal Randwick stop at Randwick, drainage works are currently being completed. They will be followed by systems fit out, cladding, paving and street stop furniture installations.

The Wansey Road stop now bears its steel structural frame, while roofing, guttering and drainage works are under way. Electrical and communication service works, and roof installation will follow.

Street lighting along the Wansey Road light rail corridor was also completed in July, while further works continue to install the last of the fencing, kerb finishing works, and landscaping with the planting of more trees.

Work on the UNSW High St stop has also started with the pouring of the northern slab, while 85 per cent of track is now completed between Botany and Clara Streets.

On the western side of Anzac Parade, works to relocate a sewer line are underway, while stormwater works are continuing along Anzac Parade to Goodwood Street. Stormwater works along Doncaster Avenue to High Street will soon be carried out following a traffic switch to shift traffic west.

Along the western side of Anzac Parade from Barker Street to Rainbow Street, drainage works continue, while a traffic switch is to move the worksite to the centre of Anzac Parade, allowing work to begin on the Kingsford light rail stop.

Following the arrival of additional light rail vehicles in July and early August, the fleet size has increased to eight. Night time testing and commissioning of the vehicles is continuing.
