Pacific National Australia has thanked the New South Wales government for providing additional resources for COVID testing of essential freight workers at Taree.
FREIGHT rail giant Pacific National Australia’s has issued a ‘thank you’ to the New South Wales government for providing additional resources for COVID testing of essential freight workers at Taree.
From 26 July, assisted testing by pathology staff is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at this critical location for interstate freight operations.
Taree is a key link in the national supply chain, located between Newcastle and Port Macquarie.
Between Taree and the Brisbane Freight Terminal each week, Pacific National operates more than 30 rail services deploying 1,500-metre freight trains – including haulage of 4,500 containers (equivalent to approximately 1,800 truck trips) and 18,000 tonnes of steel.
“Pacific National in particular thanks the offices of the NSW Deputy Premier, NSW Minister for Regional Transport & Roads, and Transport for NSW Freight division,” said company managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah.
Pacific National has 62 freight train drivers in constant rotation between Taree (26 drivers) and the Brisbane Freight Terminal (36 drivers) – each week operating more than 30 services; transporting 4,500 containers (equivalent to approximately 1,800 truck trips) and 18,000 tonnes of steel. And that is just Pacific National.
