<p>The Mission to Seafarers received a $4,500 cheque from New South Wales port minister Joe Tripodi at Parliament House during a Shipping Australia Limited lunch yesterday (Tuesday, July 3).</p> <p>Sydney-based Reverend Ian Porter accepted the cheque on behalf of the mission.</p> <p>“As port managers and operators we tend to focus on providing services for ships, trucks and trains. However it is the seafarers and other port workers who ensure that the system works,” Mr Tripodi said.</p> <p>“Sydney Ports Corporation has been donating to the Mission for over nine years, and the sum of $4,500 will go a long way towards ensuring that seafarers visiting the ports of Sydney are well looked after.</p> <p>“I congratulate the Mission to Seafarers on their devotion to the port community and wish them well for their future.”</p> <p>The Mission to Seafarers operates in some 300 ports around the world, 23 of which are located at ports around the coastline of Australia. </p> <br />
