<p>The Railway Technical Society of Australia (RTSA) has demanded that Australia’s transport ministers agree a course of action to upgrade the east coast rail track when they meet on Friday (May 23).</p> <p>Australian Transport Council and RTSA spokesman Philip Laird believes the issue of delays on upgrading the Melbourne-Sydney-Brisbane track should be high on the ministerial agenda.</p> <p>"It is essential from a national viewpoint that track ownership issues in New South Wales are resolved as soon as possible to ensure that interstate track upgrading can be expedited," Dr Laird said. </p> <p>The track between the three cities has twice received an "F" rating in the Institution of Engineers, Australia infrastructure report card, he said.</p> <br />
