<p>John Mickel has been named Queensland’s new transport minister, taking up deputy premier Paul Lucas’s position in the newly created super portfolio of transport, trade, employment and industrial relations.</p> <p>Mr Lucas will take on the infrastructure and planning portfolios, but will not take on the role of treasurer, a role previously held by premier-elect Anna Bligh.</p> <p>Andrew Fraser will be promoted to the position of treasurer.</p> <p>“What I love is infrastructure,” Mr Lucas said.</p> <p>“Build, build, build. There was never a time I wasn’t talking to the media about what we’re building.</p> <p>“This gives me the opportunity to play an even closer role in what we’re rolling out.”</p> <p>Ms Bligh was sworn in at a ceremony at Government House at 11am today (Thursday, September 13).</p> <p>The peak body for the state’s $18bn minerals and energy sector said it looked forward to working with Ms Bligh.</p> <p>Queensland Resources Council chief executive Michael Roche said the broader resources sector had already enjoyed a good relationship with incoming Ms Bligh with her early involvement in the setting up of the 18 Queensland Minerals and Energy Academies across the state, and her understanding of the sector’s infrastructure issues.</p> <br />
