Train and station testing is ramping up on Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel Project this month, with buses replacing trains on the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham Lines at times.
Testing will take place on weekends and from Monday 14 April to Tuesday 15 April and on Thursday 17 April during school holidays, when patronage is lower.
A statement from Victoria’s Big Build said: “We are at the most complex phase of the Metro Tunnel Project – building two stations directly below Melbourne’s CBD while thoroughly testing the project’s new technology.
“The April work is part of a huge testing program that includes testing all the new technology in the trains, tunnels and stations.
“Thorough and extensive testing before the Metro Tunnel opens is crucial to ensure that the new infrastructure, systems and processes are safe and ready for passenger services.”
