A man has been charged after damaged infrastructure caused disruptions at a Sydney train station on Friday 26 September.
Police were called to Penrith Train Station at about 5.50am due to reports of a person in the rail corridor.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were told a man had allegedly gone onto the tracks past the platform, damaging rail equipment and attempting to steal copper wiring.
The damage caused signals to fail and stopped trains between Penrith and St Marys.
Following inquiries by Police Transport Command North West, a 51-year-old man was arrested about 9.30pm that day at St Marys.
He was taken to Penrith Police Station, where he was charged with impairing electronic communications, damaging property and entering and leaving the station not at the designated entry/exit point.
