<p>A magistrates court fined Pacific National $30,000 for the death of worker Monty William Trotter at its Launceston maintenance depot in 2006, Tasmanian media reported yesterday (Thursday, January 24). </p> <p><em>Lloyd’s List DCN</em> was awaiting comment from Pactific National parent Asciano at deadline today.</p> <p>Pacific National pleaded guilty in the Launceston Magistrates Court to one count of failing to maintain a safe system of work and one count of failing to provide supervision.</p> <p>Magistrate Zygmunt Szramka said the company had failed in many regards, including not ensuring its workmen displayed red flags when working under wagons, the ABC reported.</p> <p>Mr Szramka said the accident was an astonishing and serious degrading of Pacific National’s culture of safety.</p> <br />
