The WA government aims to highlight opportunities for local businesses to help deliver the Morley-Ellenbrook Line at an upcoming Metronet briefing in Perth.
An industry briefing will be held on December 11 to discuss the project, which will add 21 kilometres of new railway from Bayswater station to the Ellenbrook town centre, with new stations at Whiteman Park, Malaga, Noranda and Morley.
The briefing will also provide updates on other projects under the state’s Metronet programme, including the Thornlie-Cockburn Link, the Yanchep Rail Extension, and the Level Crossing Removal Project.
Premier Mark McGowan said on November 26 the briefing would focus on his government’s number one priority – local jobs.
“Major Metronet infrastructure projects like the Morley-Ellenbrook Line will create thousands of local opportunities as well as improving public transport options across our suburbs,” McGowan said.
“This industry briefing is important as it will give local businesses the opportunity to find out how they can best engage on these major Metronet projects. More WA businesses working on Metronet means more local jobs and training opportunities for local workers.”
Transport minister Rita Saffioti said with six Metronet projects due to be underway next year, there will be more opportunities for work than ever.
“We want to get as many local businesses and workers employed on these projects as possible,” Saffioti said.
“Businesses of all sizes that are eager to be involved in this project will benefit from the information provided at this industry briefing and I encourage anyone interested in this project to come along.”
