<p>Members of the Australian Logistics Council have been urged to collectively work towards a solution for the increasing diesel cost burden. </p> <p>The rising cost of oil represented the transport and logistics industry’s greatest challenge, Toll Holdings managing director Paul Little told the Australian Logistics Council’s annual forum last week (Friday, February 16). </p> <p>The industry should work together to manage the cost of fuel cost volatility for the industry as a whole, Mr Little said. </p> <p>“Here’s a great opportunity for another retail code of practice </p> <p>“Let’s work together – there’s no question if we do, we can make a difference there. </p> <p>“Whether it’s direct sourcing of fuel out of Asia, whether it’s trying to buy fuel on the spot market, whether it’s looking at alternative to traditional fuel supplies, as an industry we really should be working together.”</p> <p>Traditionally the industry had passed on the cost increases to the client, Mr Little said.</p> <p>“Our customers want this practices to change,” he said. “They want us, the transport and logistics industry, to drive greater innovation and efficieny, not just pass on the cost.”</p> <br />
