Leighton and Abigroup win Epping to Thornleigh Third Track contract

<span class="" id="parent-fieldname-description"> Transport for NSW has selected Leighton Contractors and Abigroup to deliver the Epping to Thornleigh Third Track project in an alliance contract worth $265m. </span> <p>The ETTT Alliance, consisting of TfNSW with Leighton Contractors and Abigroup, will design and construct roughly 6km of new track, three turnouts, bridgeworks, and station works at Cheltenham, Pennant Hills and Beecroft stations, according to Leighton.</p><p>“By providing additional northbound paths for freight trains, the project will significantly reduce waiting times for freight trains and increase the reliability of both freight and passenger services,” Leighton said.</p><p>Leighton’s managing director, Craig Laslett, said the contractor was committed to continued work with TfNSW to develop rail infrastructure throughout the freight network.</p><p>“Projects such as ETTT bring major benefits to commuters, the environment and the state’s economy,” Laslett said. “Our ETTT Alliance team integrates civil, track, electrical and signalling specialists who are experienced in managing complex interfaces between construction and rail operations to safely and efficiently deliver major projects within the live rail network.”</p><p>The ETTT Alliance is expected to commence construction later this year, and the project is scheduled for completion by mid-2016.</p>
