Inland Rail has made progress in Benalla, demolishing the access road and bridge into the railway station.
It follows the decommissioning and removal of the old east track.
The station is being transformed with a new pedestrian underpass, lifts, ramps and stairs to improve connections between the precinct and Benalla town centre.
Demolition of the bridge into the station began in June, starting with the removal of the bridge deck and station access road.
Nearly 12,000 cubic metres of material has been removed from the bridge abutments.
This month, the old station underpass will be demolished, enabling construction to start on a new station forecourt, open public spaces, improved car parking, a passenger drop-off zone and bus interchange areas.
New east and west tracks have been commissioned in front of the station and a new platform is being built to service the west track.
