Inland Rail is progressing the installation of a pedestrian underpass at Euroa Station in Victoria.
An 800-tonne mobile crane recently installed six concrete sections, each weighing around 43 tonnes, at the station.
The underpass, which measures five metres by three metres, is part of an upgrade of the station that will allow double-stacked freight trains to safely pass through.
When completed, Inland Rail says the new underpass will better connect the Euroa community and improve passenger access to the station precinct’s new platform and car parks. It will also link to the new lifts, stairs and ramps which are being built.
A second pedestrian underpass is being built at Handbury Street, with stairs, ramps and improved cyclist access.
Inland Rail is a 1600-kilometre freight rail line connecting Melbourne and Brisbane.
In Victoria, 262 kilometres of existing rail line between Beveridge and Albury is being upgraded at 12 sites, including Euroa, to allow for double-stacked freight trains to transport more goods, faster and more reliably.
