$100,000 in track and signal maintenance work has been carried out on the Geelong line between Geelong and Little River.
The suite of works, which also included laying additional ballast between Lara and Little River and completing site investigations in the Geelong Station yard, were carried out on Sunday 21 January, with coaches replacing trains for the day between Southern Cross Station, Geelong and Waurn Ponds before returning to normal rail services by the Monday morning peak.
Over thirty V/Line staff and contractors were involved in carrying out the works.
“The Geelong line is our busiest on the network with around 663,000 passenger trips taken in
December alone and these works are important for the ongoing upkeep of the line,” V/Line Regional Manager Larissa Scanlon said.
