Queensland Rail has announced the return of its famous Gulflander train, which has resumed operations after its annual wet season break.
The 1950s rail motor, affectionately known as the “Tin Hare”, transported thousands of customers last year.
It follows the route between Normanton and Croydon, traversing the Gulf Savannah and offering passengers views of remote and picturesque landscapes.
The first service of the season departed last week, with bookings now open for selected dates until October 2025.
Queensland Rail Head of Regional Scott Cornish said: “We are thrilled to welcome back customers aboard the Gulflander.
“This distinctive train ride offers an extraordinary way to explore North Queensland’s outback, and we look forward to offering travellers the chance to create lasting memories.
“Customers are encouraged to reserve tickets early with bookings now open.”
