House of Reps inquiry to probe inland rail links

<p>The House of Representatives committee inquiring into regional links to Australian ports is to discuss the Melbourne to Gladstone rail link at its hearings in Canberra today (Wednesday, November 30).</p> <p>Paul Neville, chair of the transport and regional services committee, said that other issues being discussed included the balance of rail and road freight, and transport for the Australian grain harvest. </p> <p>The inquiry has involved extensive hearings around the country with Western Australia and South Australia still to come over the next few months. </p> <p>The inquiry is expected to report around the middle of next year. </p> <br />
