The station restoration project has been funded under the NSW Government’s innovative Community Heritage Program, which restores and repurposes historic, government owned rail buildings and sites in NSW.
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Transport, Anna Watson said, “This landmark initiative reflects the NSW Government’s commitment to preserving and showcasing significant heritage assets – while providing opportunities for community storytelling and tourism.”

Lyndal Punch, A/CEO of the Transport Asset Holding Entity spoke about the project.
“As the owner of this valuable heritage asset, we are delighted to see it ready to once again serve as a vibrant space for the local community in Bundanoon.”
The precinct’s buildings have been restored progressively since 2018, with key features including
- new signage and history panels, bringing the site’s railway, social and station stories to life;
- restoration of the original signal box, parcels and ticket offices, providing insights into how railway and train staff worked and how customers once travelled,
- extensive building conservation and repairs together with re-planting of gardens and landscaping of the surrounding station precinct
- improved passenger waiting and toilet facilities.
Collaboration with local community groups and Wingecarribee Council was undertaken to ensure the project reflected the history of the station and its value to the community.
The site will now be available for open days, showcasing authentic heritage features and community stories.
