Customers are invited to have their say on proposed accessibility upgrades for Stanmore Train Station in Sydney.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the improvements to the busy inner-west station would make it more modern, safe and importantly, easier to enter and exit.
“Making Stanmore more accessible is crucial given it’s a busy station for workers, schoolchildren and families,” the spokesperson said.
“To ensure ease of movement for those with disabilities, limited mobility and for parents and carers with prams, we look forward to making these enhancements.
“The next step in this project is to ask the community for further feedback on these proposed upgrades to ensure we can deliver the best possible outcomes for all.”
Key features of the proposed upgrade include two lifts that will provide access to all three platforms, the installation of family and easily accessible toilets, the addition of an accessible ramp on the Trafalgar Street side and creating a drop-off and pick-up bay on Douglas Street.
Extensive resurfacing of the station entrance, underpass and concourse is also proposed, as is a new accessible parking space on Douglas Street.
Stanmore Station is being upgraded as part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, with $2.2 billion already invested since 2011 to deliver accessible, modern and secure public transport infrastructure.
The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) will be on display at transport.nsw.gov.au/stanmore and feedback can be given there between 1 February and 15 February.
