Hamersley expects to take derailment in its stride

<p>Hamersley Iron was not expecting major export disruption after a train derailment in the eastern Pilbara in the early hours of Thursday morning (August 12).</p> <p>The accident saw 80 ore cars impact each other with some falling off the tracks near Yandicoogina. </p> <p>The track was badly damaged and 8,000 tonnes of ore was spilled. </p> <p>However, a spokesman for the company said that there were stockpiles at the company’s Dampier port facilities and at the mine, and no serious disruption was expected. </p> <p>It is expected to take up to a week to clear the track and repair the rails. </p> <br />
