Great Netball Shootout kicks off

<span class="" id="parent-fieldname-description"> The Australasian Railway Association’s Great Netball Shootout is off and running, with the shootout’s sponsor, UGL Rail &amp Infrastructure, pleased to announce the first weekly prize is being drawn this Friday night. </span> <p>The Shootout has already attracted significant interest with entrants participating at the Netball Interactive inside the National Sports Museum in the MCG in the first week.</p><p>“There was a lot of fun and excitement as volunteers stepped entrants through the first stage of the competition”, NSM’s general manager heritage and tourism Margaret Birtley said.</p><p>“All entrants get to shoot out in the Netball Interactive and then receive a Shootout pack which includes information about careers in rail. We are hoping to get over 10,000 entrants over the course of the competition so this is a great opportunity for the rail industry to get careers information into over 10,000 homes across Victoria.”</p><p>Netball Australia and Netball Victoria are also supporting the initiative with Sharelle McMahon, captain of the Australian Netball Team and Australian Team flag bearer at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi being the shootout’s ambassador.</p><p>UGL Rail &amp Infrastructure chief executive Andy Summers said a key objective of UGL’s sponsorship of the shootout is to promote the merits of a career in the rail industry, primarily to young women.</p><p>“UGL is a global company and diversity across our workforce is something we actively promote. We have a real focus on attracting more talented women to our workforce, and this sponsorship will help build UGL’s presence among young women considering a career in the engineering and transport sectors,” Summers said.</p><p>“We are very confident that the Australian rail industry will be the beneficiary of a surge in interest in what the rail sector can offer to young women and men as they make their career choices. This is an exciting sector that offers great career prospects both in Australia and overseas.”</p><p>Over the next few weeks, invitations and information will be distributed to over 2500 schools across Victoria and to the over 100,000 Victorian netballers encouraging them to participate in this unique opportunity to Shoot for the major prizes.&nbsp These prizes include a trip to Paris, donated by Alstom, a trip to Hong Kong, donated by Metro Trains Melbourne, a trip on the Ghan to Darwin, donated by Skilled Group and 30 weekly Metlink tickets from the Department of Transport Victoria.</p><p>The final shootout will be held on the MCG itself which is a rare and special opportunity for 250 lucky enough to be drawn.</p><p>The Rail Careers website <a target="_blank" href="http://www.railcareers.net.au ">www.railcareers.net.au </a>has also seen a significant increase in visitors with up to 230 visitors a day logging on, this includes 250 logging on for information and the entry from for the Shootout.</p><p>The website has a jobs page for the rail industry, so don’t miss your opportunity to tap into this talent stream<br />&nbsp</p>
