Get on board the Learning Express

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) has launched its Learning Express program, which features four brand-new short online courses.

The four courses are:

Introduction to Rail Safety – this course provides participants with an understanding of the approach to rail safety in Australia.

Rail Safety Workers Obligations – this course provides details of the elements of a Safety Management System and the obligations a rail safety worker has for each of these elements.

Fundamentals of Risk Management – this course provides participants with an understanding of the basics of risk management.

Safety Critical Communications for Protection Officers – this course builds on TLIF 0008 – Apply Safety Critical Communications in The Rail Environment and contextualises it to the role of the Protection Officer.

Learning Express courses can be completed within one to two hours, can be accessed from anywhere in the world on demand, and can be undertaken in your own time and at your own pace, making them ideal to complete around work and/or family commitments.

These short courses are suitable for those new to the rail industry or those wanting to upskill or improve their knowledge of rail safety and risk.

RISSB CEO Deborah Spring said the four industry leading courses are a result of strategic collaborations between industry and RISSB and are part of the organisation’s ongoing commitment to deliver value to members and the rail industry more broadly.

While the courses were developed to meet the exacting requirements of the rail industry, all courses can be completed by anyone with an interest in the subject matter.

Starting at $195 (excluding GST) for members, the courses are competitively priced and further discounts are available if an organisation has groups of 10 or more interested in completing a course.
