<p>Major freight corridors in southwest Queensland received a $1.1m maintenance boost yesterday to help maintain roads in the region.</p> <p>Federal infrastructure minister Anthony Albanese said the contract, awarded to Main Roads construction arm RoadTek, would help preserve and maintain major highways and road corridors in Queensland.</p> <p>Funding would be used to address works such as potholes, rough edges, clearing drains, roadside slashing, signage and the repair of road surface failures, Queensland Main Roads minister Warren Pitt said.</p> <p>“Southwest Queensland roads are subjected to harsh weather and traffic conditions and road surfaces can deteriorate if they are not addressed in a reasonable time period,” Mr Pitt said.</p> <p>“This funding will help preserve road conditions by addressing minor maintenance issues before they become a cause for real concern.”</p> <br />
