<p>Major freight routes between Sydney and Brisbane have remained open after floods in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland have isolated communities and caused millions of dollars worth of damage.</p> <p>Both the Newell and the New England highways were not affected by flooding. </p> <p>However, Australasian Trucking Association chief executive Stuart St Clair said accessing affected communities was a difficult task for logistics providers.</p> <p>“They’ll be trying to make sure enough of the essentials get through – bread, milk, those sorts of things,” he said.</p> <p>Flooding was not unusual for this time of year, Mr St Clair said.</p> <p>“Despite the weather-induced crisis, a professional driver will always get the job done,” he said.</p> <p>Damage to infrastructure, properties, homes and businesses in affected areas was estimated to cost more than $100m.</p> <br />
