<p>The first freight train to run from Adelaide to Darwin began its journey shortly before midday (AEDT) today (Thursday, January 15).</p> <p>The 1km-long FreightLink train departed Adelaide at 11.15 am (ACDT) on the newly completed Adelaide-Darwin rail link.</p> <p>A bandwagon of politicians and well-wishers were on hand to participate in ceremonies to mark the occasion. </p> <p>The train will arrive in Darwin on Saturday, January 17. </p> <br />
