<p>FCL Interstate Transport Services has won the contract to operate the Katherine and Tennant Creek terminals on the Adelaide-to-Darwin rail link.</p> <p>FCL’s manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory, Peter Dolman, said the contract will complement the company’s new five-acre Darwin depot.</p> <p>All three sites will be ready for the first freight train, due to depart Adelaide on January 15.</p> <p>Mr Dolman said the Katherine and Tennant Creek operations will be lightly staffed until freight volumes grow.</p> <p>He said it is hoped that tropical fruit and vegetable plantations at Katherine and Kununurra will provide freight for southern markets.</p> <br />
