Export focus on Qld budget rail spending

<p>The Queensland Government will focus on driving up exports with the $615m it allocated for capital rail works in the state budget released this week.</p> <p>State transport minister Steve Bredhauer said the $615m would support the state’s quest to boost export earnings, "especially from coal".</p> <p>"Projects such as Hail Creek coal mine and expansion of other Queensland mines are crucial to Queensland’s export earnings," Mr Bredhauer said.</p> <p>Allocations include $76m for North Bowen Rail basin rail link infrastructure and a further $87m for the transport on the link.</p> <p>The government will also spend $30m on coal train rollingstock, $30m for upgrading the electric locomotive fleet and $50m on track renewal between Rockhampton and Cairns. </p> <br />
