<span class="" id="parent-fieldname-description"> Nominations are currently being accepted for the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council Awards for Excellence that will include a new emphasis on rail. </span> <p>For rail enterprises, the Awards present an excellent opportunity to showcase upskilling initiatives with a rail-specific award in the Innovation and Excellence in Workforce Development category.</p><p><span style="line-height: 1.5em">Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council (TLISC) CEO, Robert Adams says, “The Awards offer the opportunity to recognise and celebrate exceptional achievements and outstanding contributions made by organisations in training and workforce development in the Industry.”</span></p><p>The industry is witnessing significant investment in rail infrastructure coupled with growing demand for rail services. Subsequently, the sector has been forced to develop strategies that address contemporary and innovative workforce development practices to increase productivity.</p><p>TLISC are calling for nominations from companies operating in the rail sector who have successfully implemented whole of business solutions to upskill and train staff through the use of the Transport and Logistics Training Package (TLI10).</p><p>The broader Transport and Logistics Industry, including rail, are also invited to nominate in three other categories, two of which are open to Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).</p><p>The Return on Investment in Skills Award is open to enterprises and businesses able to exhibit how significant productivity improvement at an enterprise level has been made by maximising skills and workforce development opportunities.</p><p>Promoting the rail sector as an attractive, valued and rewarding place to work is key to growing the workforce and addressing ongoing attraction and retention issues faced by the industry. Companies and RTOs who have showcased the sector or the industry more broadly in a positive light should nominate for the Excellence in Industry Promotion Award.</p><p>Such activities might include strategies which have targeted under-represented demographics and which have brokered key partnerships to help build a vibrant, untapped labour force.</p><p>Finally, the Chairman’s Award will this year acknowledge an individual, enterprise or RTO who has developed programs or strategies that help employers address Language, Literacy and Numeracy issues within the Transport and Logistics Industry.</p><p>With rail projects throughout the country engaging indigenous workers (particularly in regional areas such as the Pilbara) and new migrants to entering the sector, this Award is an opportunity for the rail sector to lead by example.</p><p>Winners will receive complimentary tickets, accommodation and return airfares for two to attend an industry dinner showcasing their achievements to representatives from across the Transport and Logistics Industry. Trophies will be presented and winners will receive the right to display the winner’s logo on merchandise and advertising material.</p><p>Entries must be received by 8 February.
