<p>Excel Coal has signed a contract with a power company in Taiwan to supply 3m tonnes of coal over the next six years from the Wambo coal mine in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales.</p> <p>The company has also signed another contract to supply the US trading group Cargill with almost 2m tonnes of coal over the next three years.</p> <p>Managing director Tony Haggerty told the ABC that the delivery schedule has been tailored to fit in with planned expansions at the Wambo mine near Singleton.</p> <p>"We’re ramping up the open cut mine, that’ll be increased by about one million tonnes this year over last year, and about a similar amount next year," he said. </p> <p>"This is all part of the plan that we had approved and put in place in the beginning of 2004."</p> <br />
