Eurotram comes to Sydney

<p>Sydneysiders are getting a sneak preview of the cutting-edge tram technology with the exhibition of the latest Eurotram.</p> <p>The new generation Eurotram, which has come from Porto, Portugal, is manufactured by Bombardier &#8211 which also make locally the carriages for Sydney’s Metro Light Rail system.</p> <p> "We are very excited about demonstrating the potential of light rail, as well as the environmental, comfort access and safety advantages of light rail," Metro Light Rail chairman Paul Espie said.</p> <p>Bombardier has designed the Eurotram with input from leading design houses, with aim of enhancing the urban landscape.</p> <p>In addition to the Eurotram, the exhibition at Circular Quay’s Customs House will also a display of Sydney’s tram history.</p> <p>The exhibition opened yesterday (Sunday, December 1) and runs to December 13.</p> <p>Studies are being made on extending Sydney’s light rail network through the CBD between Central Station and Circular Quay and also west along Parramatta Road. </p> <br />
