Enerpac is an industry leader in battery technology for portable tools. With long battery run-times, their batteries are designed for larger rail maintenance jobs in remote workspaces where they are a safer, more efficient and more environmentally-friendly alternative to diesel generators.

At AusRail Plus 2025, Enerpac is exhibiting the SC-Series and XC2-Series cordless hydraulic battery pumps and BTW-Series Battery Torque Wrench, together with the Enerpac ZC-3404 – a cordless hydraulic stressing pump for rail tensor and stressing applications

Cordless portability and power

The Enerpac SC-Series compact, cordless battery pump allows operators to undertake larger jobs in difficult-to-access and remote workspaces. With the ‘Enerpac Connect’ app, SC-Series pump operators can instantly access job-specific usage data for traceability and improved precision, as well as a knowledge base of tool information.

While the Enerpac XC2-Series cordless hydraulic pumps offer higher speeds, longer battery run-times and greater oil capacity, allowing larger tool and multiple cylinder applications to be undertaken on a single charge. The XC2 pump’s brushless motor provides twice the life of brushed motors and high-flow rates for increased productivity, allowing significant work completions on a single battery charge.

Rail stressing

The Enerpac stands will also feature the Enerpac ZC-3404 – a cordless hydraulic stressing pump for rail tensor and stressing applications. The lithium-Ion battery driven stressing pump is a standalone power pack used in the alumni thermic track welding process.

The Network Rail approved ZC-3404 pump is a three-stage pump, offering improved reliability and efficiency for track stressing. Compatible with other rail stressing pumps providing similar pressures, the battery powered, ZC-3404 hydraulic pump has no exhaust gases and is therefore less polluting than petrol and diesel powered pumps.  In addition, it is approximately 50 per cent lighter, with improved ergonomics for ease of handling, and quieter – with noise level 80dB maximum.

TL248 Track Lift System

The Enerpac TL248 Track Lift System is a compact, powerful, and precise hydraulic solution for lifting and supporting rail tracks during track maintenance. Compared to traditional track maintenance methods that rely on bulky, costly heavy lift equipment, the portable, self-contained TL248 system enables safer, faster work with greater precision and shorter, less disruptive possessions.

UK Network Rail approved, the Enerpac TL248 is an innovative hydraulic lifting system, specifically engineered to lift track from below. Designed for easy transport to remote or confined locations, the TL248 features four independent hydraulic jacks, each with a 62-tonne capacity, combining for a total lifting capacity of 248 tonnes. The jacks deliver accurate lifts with a precision of 3.2 millimetres, essential for the maintenance of track switches, crossings, turnouts, retarders, and hold bridge ends securely in place.

The TL248 features an intuitive, colour-coded central control panel illuminated by integral LED lighting for clear visibility in any conditions. Its built-in redundant safety systems, like manual needle valves and pilot-operated check valves, prevent jack drift and ensure secure operation under load. Engineered with built-in fork pockets and lifting hooks, the system is quick to transport and deploy, even in tight or remote locations. It is even a self-contained power unit that operates independently of external power sources, giving teams greater flexibility on-site and when in remote locations.

Eliminating overhead clearance issues

The TL248 Track Lift System is optimised for the maintenance of rail tracks. By lifting tracks from below, the TL248 bypasses the challenges posed by overhead structures and power cables. This design not only mitigates clearance restrictions but also stabilises the track to allow maintenance-of-way equipment to pass over when placed on the ballast. These features combine to dramatically reduce possession times and minimize disruption to rail services.

Thanks to the optimal jack placement and compact design, track excavation times are also significantly shortened. Deployed to the site on the back of a utility vehicle due to its small footprint, it replaces the need for cumbersome crane lorries. Substantially improving project timelines and efficiency, the Enerpac TL248 enables track maintenance crews to lift up to four diamond crossings or six turnouts per day.

Enerpac rail track jacks – Portable and powerful

Enerpac offers an extensive range of hydraulic and mechanical track jacks suitable for rail track maintenance and lifting applications such as frogs, turn-outs, diamonds, and tie sections. Designed with lifting capacities 10 – 15 T, all Enerpac jacks provide easy positioning and are engineered for robustness and ease of portability to cope with the rigors of constant use in the field.

Depending upon the model chosen, Enerpac jacks include overload protection, anti-kickback, and a quick-trip mechanism to allow the rail to be instantly dropped. The entry-level A-Series Jacks are lightweight, easy to carry for all track applications. All models include square drive sockets for use with standard railroad lining bars. A quick-trip mechanism allows the track jack to be instantly tripped while under load, saving time when lowering the track after maintenance.

At the upper end of the Enerpac track jack range is the POW’R-CLAW. Designed specifically for tough lifting applications such as frogs, turn-outs, diamonds and concrete tie sections, the jack features exclusive overload protection from load shifts. All models can lift from toe or cap, making them ideal for spreading and jacking applications.

Manufactured with a solid cast base to provide more ground surface contact area, and a large grooved toe for lifting, the POW’R-CLAW combines powerful lifting with industry-leading operator safety. The jack’s low handle effort allows one-man operation for lifting heavy loads while the jack’s anti-kickback design reduces risk of injury to the operator if the load is inadvertently released.
