Downer EDI in ARTC maintenance deal extension

<p>Sydney engineering firm Downer EDI will score a decade of service to the Australian Rail Track Corp in June 2009 after its Works Infrastructure division nailed a two-year extension to its track maintenance alliance deal, the company said yesterday (Tuesday, November 7).</p> <p>Works Infrastructure chief executive David Cattell flagged more rail initiatives &#8220in the near term&#8221.</p> <p>Meanwhile, its Roche Mining arm has sealed an alliance deal with Xstrata Coal for two new coal-handling processing plants for the Mt Owen and Liddell operations in the Hunter Valley.</p> <p>The plants should be ready in early-2008, with a three-month interval between each.</p> <p>Downer EDI managing director Stephen Gillies put the value of deals at about $200m.</p> <br />
