Dickson and Gibbins win joint VTA personality of year award

<p>Classic Liverpool pop band Gerry and the Pacemakers headed the Victorian Transport Association’s sparkling awards night on Saturday (September 15), kicking off Freight Week in style. </p> <p>To general acclaim, after judges were unable to split them, Bluescope Steel vice president logistics and procurement Ingilby Dickson and former FCL Interstate Transport boss Bill Gibbins were awarded joint per Australian freight and logistics personalities of the Year.</p> <p>Much cheer was directed towards Mr Gibbins as VTA chairman Phil Lovel recounted his many good deeds.</p> <p>Other award winners were: </p> <p>Australian Best Practice Safety Award: Extra Transport Group’s and Barker Trailers’s Safe-T-Steel trailer as the most innovative and practical safety solution in the workplace in any mode of freight and logistics</p> <p>Australian Freight Innovation&#47Technology Award: Australian Glass Supply Chain System’s Floatliner delivery trailer for applied innovation&#47technology solutions to an industry issue or problem in the supply chain or any other freight and logistics operations</p> <p>Australian Freight &#38 Logistics National Operator Award: CRT Group CRT Group safety incentives, technology developments, customer&#47supplier alliances, financial strength, customer relations, community activities and growth</p> <p>Operation Countdown Safety Award: Linfox Logistics Group for its a best practice safety regime.</p> <p>Australian Freight and Logistics Young Professional Award: Glen Cameron Group logistics development manager Lance Keillor, for demonstrating personal growth, contribution to their company, activities outside their business life, industry involvement, community activities and leadership qualities.</p> <p>Judges came from and included VicPolice, WorkSafe, VicRoads, Coles&#47Myer, City of Wyndam, David Galbally QC, John Edhouse, QBE, Beaurepaires, RACV, Department Of Innovation, Industry &#38 Regional Development.</p> <br />
