Designs revealed for new 13-metre-high Kellyville Station

The design of the new Kellyville Station has been released, one of the two stations to be constructed on the elevated skytrain between Bella Vista and Rouse Hill.

Kellyville Station will be one of an eventual 31 train stations to be constructed as part of the Sydney Metro project.

Northwest Rapid Transit is to build the new station – located on the corner of Old Windsor Road and Samantha Riley Drive – and lay the new metro rail tracks that form part of the $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest project.

The station will be 13 metres above the ground, and will be the first in Australia to feature platform screen doors, which reportedly prevent objects and persons from getting too close to the edge. Video help points will be located on platforms (another Australia-first).

The designs reveal that the station will feature 1, 200 car parking spaces, 4 bus spaces, 10 kiss-and-ride spaces, 4 taxi spaces, plus parking and storage for 45 bicycles.

To provide easy access to commuters, new access roads are to be constructed, while Samantha Riley Drive is to be widened to accommodate additional turning lanes. A new pedestrian bridge over Old Windsor Road and a T-way at the intersection of Samantha Riley Drive and Newbury Avenue will also be built.

“This new station will provide rail access and a public transport interchange for people living in surrounding suburbs like Kellyville, Beaumont Hills and Stanhope Gardens,” transport minister Andrew Constance was quoted as saying by the Rouse Hill Courier.

“Sydney Metro is creating a new hub for commuters and will deliver a reliable public transport service to this booming region, making it easier for people to get where they need to go.”

The government expects that Kellyville station will open during the first half of 2019.
