Designs done for Frederick St bridge replacement

Queensland Rail is working to deliver a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge to reconnect Frederick Street and Mina Parade in the Brisbane suburb of Alderley.

The Frederick Street bridge closed to road vehicles in 2012, and to pedestrians and cyclists in January 2020 due to structural issues that were identified. The bridge was then removed in April 2020 to ensure the ongoing safety of the local community and Queensland Rail’s infrastructure.

Queensland Rail has engaged with the local community, bicycle groups and local council to plan for a suitable bridge replacement.

Concept designs have now been developed and are available to view below.

Once a contractor has been appointed, works are expected to commence in late-2022, with the bridge to be installed and operational in late-2023.
