Design revealed for Merinda Park

PICS: Concept designs have been revealed for a new Merinda Park station amid the duplication of the Cranbourne line in Melbourne.

Early works are expected to start on the new station in Melbourne’s southeast next year, coinciding with track duplication works between Dandenong and Cranbourne as part of the Cranbourne Line Upgrade, which see eight new kilometres of track laid and four level crossings removed.

The new design will thus see the station rebuilt with two platforms, better weather protection and a new direct entry point from the eastern side of the tracks.

Design is for a new pedestrian underpass to link both sides of the station, allowing an existing pedestrian level crossing to be removed.

The main station entrance will also be moved to a more central location.

The Level Crossing Removal Project team has invited feedback from passengers and locals about the concept designs.

The fully-upgraded Cranbourne line is expected to be completed by 2025.
