<p>The NSW Farmers Association hopes to see 15 “restricted” branch rail lines in the state allocated now that Toll’s $5.8bn bid for Patrick Corp has been given the go-ahead.</p> <p>NSW transport minister John Watkins had postponed plans to call for expressions of interest in the leasing or franchising of the lines depending on the future of Pacific National, the largest carrier of grain in NSW.</p> <p>The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission last month approved Toll’s bid for Patrick, on the condition that it divested its share of the 50:50 owned Pacific National to a third party. Toll could do this by the end of the year. </p> <p>Graincorp’s decision this week to close 70 storage sites will also affect the urgency of the need to find parties interested in operating the lines.</p> <p>The NSW Farmers Association hopes to discuss the issue with Mr Watkins next week. </p> <br />
