<p>Sydney’s outer suburban Tangara passenger trains will have a back-up emergency braking system installed by Monday (April 5), the New South Wales Government said.</p> <p>The $33m system backs up the much maligned deadman’s pedal system and will apply the brakes when it fails to detect driver activity.</p> <p>Installation of the system follows recommendations from the interim McInerney report into the Waterfall train crash in January 2003.</p> <p>The system will be installed in 41 Tangara trains. </p> <br />
